This beautiful refuge has been serving as a habitat for wildlife and endangered species since 1951 and includes 45 miles of biking trails, including 36 along the levee, a 5.5-mile paddling trail, 3 public boat ramps, a fishing pier, a boat staging dock, and 2 walking trails. It is a prime birding area with over 250 species of bird, like the endangered snail kite. Other wildlife include alligators, deer, turtles, snakes, and fish. Learn more about Loxahatchee History.
